Dear devotees,

Please accept my blessings. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

This morning I was asked to give a talk to approximately 15 gurukula girls

here in the United States, who were all preparing themselves to go out on

the Prabhupada Marathon. Yesterday I spoke to about 20 gurukula boys. I

spoke about our book distribution in the countries of the former Soviet

Union, and then showed them a video that Yamaraja Prabhu made several

years ago just after the 1991 Prabhupada Marathon. I hadn`t seen that

video for several years, and so I watched it along with them.

After just seeing this video, it rekindled my memories of earlier days

when practically every single devotee in the temple would burst out of the

temple for the Prabhupada Marathon, with full enthusiasm, anxious to

dissemminate Srila Prabhupada`s transcendental literatures for the

enlightenment of human society. Nothing else mattered. It was the time for

everyone to go out to the streets, subways, factories, homes, and wherever

they could find conditioned souls to preach. Although it is now many years

later, that same mission is still weighing heavily upon our heads. I am

very pleased to hear that all of you are still feeling the weight and are

nicely planning your marathon. Please know that I am very grateful to

those devotees who take up this important missionary work because it is so

pleasing to Srila Prabhupada. Although my blessings for your success in

this endeavor may not invoke Lord Caitanya`s intervention, I will still

offer them because I know that I must. But I have great conviction that

Srila Prabhupada blessings for this book distribution activity is so

potent, that they will continue to pour forth for many generations to

come. I therefore also pray that Srila Prabhupada will pour his blessings

upon all of you, and that you will all realize your goals for spreading

Krsna consciousness in your prabhu datta desa.

I can say that these gurukula boys and girls are now very enlivened to go

out and distribute books. Last year, this same group of girls distributed

2,000 books in a little more than a week. They now want to beat their

previous year`s scores. Please continue to inspire these devotees, and

continue to set a nice example for them by showing them that our "life" in

Krsna consciousness comes from preaching. Maybe next year we can show them

some videos or photos from the 1997 Srila Prabhupada Marathon?
